Mark Henry

Chef Mark F Henry has nearly 30 years experience as a Chef, Restaurateur, culinary instructor and ice carver. Mark’s career started as a fine artist and sculptor, having worked in restaurants to put him through art school. During that time it became clear that “culinary artist” would become not only a life-long goal, but also his passion.

Having graduated with High Honors from the Culinary Institute of America in 1990, Chef Mark came to Pittsburgh as Chef Garde Manger for the Vista International Hotel. In the Western Pennsylvania area Mark has been an Executive Chef, Ice carver, lecturer, consultant, and full service caterer, actively supporting the culinary community and doing charitable events for over 20 years. Mark has joined local chefs in the effort to support the respiratory alliance. Chef Mark has sought to understand international cuisines, in order to master American cuisine at its root. Chef Mark has achieved regional and national recognition as an Ice sculptor and culinary artist, having won gold in National Ice Carvers Association and American Culinary Federation events.

In 1999 Mark achieved the level of Certified Executive Chef and in 2005 he was recognized by the American Culinary Federation Laurel Highlands Chapter with the President’s Award. Most recently as the executive chef of a local catering company, Chef Henry led the organization to be recognized as the best caterer and best event planner in Western Pennsylvania. Mark has created “Chef Marks Palate” with a passion for organic ingredients, regional products and an understanding that nature holds all the designs for the future. Chef Mark has been recognized by Savor Pittsburgh, for having the best entre in 2009, returning in 2010 to receive best dessert and claim the dish of the year.
